Why is Flat for Education not available in my region?

Last updated November 3, 2026

Flat for Education is currently not available in some countries and regions, because of international sanctions and trade restrictions. A school or organization there cannot create a Flat for Education organization or buy licenses, and sees the message "Sorry, Flat is not available in your region".

In which countries and regions is Flat for Education currently not available?

Flat for Education is currently not available in:

  • Belarus
  • Cuba
  • Iran
  • North Korea
  • Russia
  • Sudan
  • Syria
  • Venezuela
  • The Ukrainian regions of Crimea, Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, Sevastopol and Zaporizhzhia

This list can change.

What does this change for my school?

  • Creating an organization: starting a trial or a paid organization is refused when the country of the organization is on the list, or when the sign-up connection comes from one of these places.
  • Quotes, invoices and payments: a billing address in one of these places is refused, whether you pay by card, purchase order or bank transfer. Banks and payment providers also often reject payments from these places, so a payment can fail before it reaches us.
  • Teachers and students: they cannot create new accounts from these places on their own.

Does this affect my existing school setup?

Accounts created through your organization keep working when they come from a Learning Management System (LTI launch) or from Google Classroom and Microsoft Teams roster sync. Accounts created by an admin are not blocked either.

I am in another country, why do I see this message?

Your connection may be routed through one of these regions, for example through a VPN or a proxy. Turn it off, then try again. If you still see the message, contact us at edu@flat.io and tell us your school's country.

Where can I read about the options for individuals?
