Creating engaging Text Response Assignments for your students

Text response assignments example

While music is often about the notes on the page, sometimes you need to hear your students’ voices in a different way. Text Response Assignments allow you to move beyond simple "multiple choice" and give your students the space to explain their musical journey, analyze a piece, or reflect on a lesson in their own words.

Why use Text Response Assignments?

  • All-in-One Workflow: No need to switch between different apps or paper worksheets.
  • Total Customization: Ask specific questions tailored to exactly what you taught in class.
  • Deeper Reflection: Encourage students to express unique understanding rather than just picking from a list.
