Share and collaborate
You can use Flat for Education to share your sheet music and collaborate in real-time with teachers and students from your organization. Start by selecting a privacy level for your creation, then invite collaborators.
You can adjust the sharing settings for a score on both the Library page and in the Editor.
Collaborate or Share a Score
In the sharing settings, you can invite multiple Flat for Education users to collaborate on a score. You will have the option to edit the document simultaneously or work separately. When sharing a score, you can assign one of three permission levels to other users:
- Can read: The user can open the score and use inline comments to provide feedback.
- Can write: The user can edit the score but cannot change the sharing settings or delete the score.
- Can admin: The user has full access to the score, including the ability to modify sharing settings and delete the score.
Privacy Levels & Sharing Modes
Every document on Flat has a privacy level that can be changed on the Library page or in the Editor. You can select from the following privacy levels:
- Private: Only you can view and modify the score.
- Private sharing link: Similar to Private, but with a read-only link you can share. This link can be disabled or updated by making the score Private again. This option may be disabled by your organization's administrator by turning off sharing links.
- Public in the organization: Only logged-in users from your organization will be able to access your sheet music in read-only mode.
Embed your score on another Website
This option may be disabled by your organization's administrator by turning off sharing links.
To embed a score on another website, set its privacy to Public or Private sharing link, then paste the link into your Embed Generator. For more options, see the full embed documentation on how to customize the embed, use the JavaScript API, or use Flat as an oEmbed Provider.
Admin: Privacy Settings for Your Organization
As an administrator, you can manage the privacy settings for your organization.
By default:
- Users are restricted from collaborating with individuals outside of your organization.
- Users are allowed to share private links to their scores.
