Insert rest

In the normal editing mode, adding a rest overwrites whatever is at the cursor. In Insert Mode, inserting a rest instead pushes the existing notes to the right, making room without deleting anything. This is useful when you want to add a pause or silence in the middle of a passage without losing the notes that follow.

Select the duration you want in the toolbar, then click the insert rest button. The rest will be placed at the cursor position and the surrounding notes will shift accordingly.
